Ajunta Par, Prime minister of the galactic senate, stood beaming at his podium. News droids hovered and whizzed about his head, as the whole senate settled and awaited his announcement.
"My fellow beings, this moment marks a momentous day in Galactic history. As a gesture of good will, the government of Corellia has graciously handed over the control of Centerpoint station, to the Galactic Alliance under the stipulation that it will be destroyed. Finally this stain of war will be cleansed from the galaxy as a symbol of everlasting peace. " The prime minister smiled as he paused for applause.
"If I may direct your attention to the monitors, demolition teams are standing by. Now if I may remind our distinguished members of the press, and any others citizen looking for a closer view, that while the thermal blast will be contained there will be a sizable Electromagnetic pulse or EMP from the blast. This EMP causes electrical systems to shut down. So we urge all ships to maintain the suggested 20 par sec perimeter around the station. Now without further ado, Foreman, you may demolish when ready."
The whole senate stared up at the screens, there was a sickening moment where it seemed nothing was going to happen. Then suddenly, in a flash of light, Centerpoint station dissintegrated into a trillion pieces. The senate erupted with applause as music began to play.
"Let this day symbolize a unity and peace that will be everlasting."
