“We must make the best of those ills that cannot be avoided” a great federalist once said this, and yes he was Alexander Hamilton. I know none of us agree with many of Illinois senator Barak Obama’s plans or policies. But now is not the time for us to be sore losers, we must move on with the fact that Senator Obama seems to be our next president of the United States and we must accept this. We should be thankful for how far our country has come, that an African American is president and that a woman was very close to becoming vice president. There are a lot of countries in this world who hate America and its people because of what we stand for as a free republic. I believe even after our election that our faith still needs to be in God, we must trust in him, in these dark times that our country faces. We must pray for strength and leadership for our new president, for him to ask God for advice when faced with difficult situations and for humility to come to others with more experience when faced with tough problems. And with a majority of democrats in Congress, in the next two years the outcome will be on the democrat’s hands and as Americans we do wish for them to succeed, as well as to keep their humility and know where their power truly lies in, the American people. Being Americans we must also be vigilant and not taken advantage of our American rights, and no matter the party who will try to challenge these, we must stand as one and raise our voice and give them our answer.
This is still America no matter who is in the white house; America has had bad or over-rated presidents, Kennedy and Roosevelt among others. But both did meet up to the challenge when our country was facing some of its toughest challenges, for Roosevelt it was World War 2 and for Kennedy it was the Cuban missile crises. We can only hope that Obama is able to meet these challenges and is able to help steer our country to a better tomorrow. He has the next four years to do what few politicians no matter the party rarely do, be good on their promises and help our country.
This is my 100th post, alright!
