[Ayin comes from "Tsade's Report" on Coruscant. www.knightsandlords.proboards56.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=temple&thread=108&page=1]
Ayin looked at the display on his fighter control board. A medium-sized, teal planet rotated on the visual terminal -- the planet Mindar, which Shadowight now hung in orbit over.
A week had passed since the sacking of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant: The Republic soon mobilized its space armadas and the Jedi Order reconciled its losses. Ayin meanwhile had spent his time scouring for information on the Sith Lord's location; mere hours before, Republic scanners indicated a small fleet of Sith cruisers in orbit around the planet Mindar. When Ayin learned of this through the Republic-Jedi information relays, he immediately demanded that the Republic not send resources to displace the Sith fleet, as he presumed it was a trap to lure Republic fleets away from more strategically valuable targets. Republic officers heeded his advice, and Ayin traveled to Mindar alone.
He had plenty of reasons for this decision, apart from the reason he told Republic High Command. Mindar was Ayin's homeworld; although he had not visited it in several standard years, Ayin knew the planet's topography well, and his birth town of Myrenne better than he knew the sky platforms of Coruscant. Ayin knew nearly all of the mercenary associations that based themselves on Mindar, and knew their practices. Ayin had suspicion that the Sith Lord himself awaited him planetside, and had likely recruited some of the mercenary groups to his cause while he waited. Knowing that landing on Mindar itself could lead him into a trap, Ayin prepared himself mentally for potential ambush from any street corner, from anybody.
Most of all, however, Ayin wanted to finish his battle with the Sith Lord. Their first encounter had been brief and inconclusive; Ayin wished to test the Force giant's power fully. His purpose for the battle was to best the Sith Lord and end the war prematurely, if at all possible. Ayin also considered that, should he find his opponent too potent to defeat, then he would have enough information to plan a winning strategy for their next battle. Ayin hoped to do so while revealing as few of his own powers as possible.
The sky burned around his fighter as Ayin entered Mindar's atmosphere. Soon, the bleak void of space dissipated, replaced by a cerulean horizon. Below, expanses of metal that joined loose conglomerations of buildings came into his view; Ayin guided his ship towards a fighter platform in the center region of the city. A metallic finger of a building scratched against the sky several blocks away.
